How Do I Care For My Bamboo Matcha Whisk?

Whisking your matcha is an essential step to get that beautiful, frothy matcha! If you are not whisking your matcha, start now. Whisking helps to aerate your matcha whilst mixing it with water… releasing aromas and creating a beautiful texture.

How do I prepare my matcha whisk for whisking?

To help prepare your matcha whisk for its first use, we recommend placing your matcha whisk in some hot (not boiling) water before its first use. You may have heard of the term “blooming” before. This is the process of soaking your matcha whisk and allowing the stems to uncurl or “bloom”. Through soaking your whisk, you are cleansing the bamboo and helping to improve the whisking process when used for the first time. As you use your whisk, you will notice it will continue to uncurl with use but soaking your whisk is the best way to get started.

every time Before you use your whisk

To ensure your whisk is ready for use, we recommend soaking it in warm water briefly before every use. This allows for the bamboo to soften and can help to prevent breakage whilst you are whisking away.

How to clean your Matcha Whisk after use

After whisking, it is important to rinse any matcha residue off your whisk so that it can dry properly. We recommend that you store your bamboo whisk on the whisk holder directly after you have cleaned it as this will help to keep your whisk in its original shape as well as helping to prevent mould from forming on your whisk.

Every so often, we recommend cleaning your whisk holder with water to make sure you clear any residue.
